ABOUT

I'm a professional jazz bassist composer educator of over 25 years looking to try new things and experiment in a new project. I'm very open to exploring styles and meeting new musicians . my present career trajectory does not necessarily give me many outside my box opportunities.
my Bio Toronto-born jazz bassist Artie Roth has been an active composer, bandleader,
performer and educator since his graduation from York University in 1992 with the Oscar Peterson Scholarship and Masters degree in composition (2016). As a leader of his own group, Artie released “Parallels” in 2005 ,“Currently Experiencing” (2013) and “Discern” (2016) with a tour of eastern Canada (2016), Europe (2017) and a distribution deal through Sony/The Orchard on Innsbruck records (2016). On over 60 recordings, and contributing composer for The JUNO award winning Rich Underhill Group, Tunetown, The Bob Brough Quartet and Kollage, Artie was nominated for a National Jazz Award in the category of Bassist of the Year. Concurrently with his performance career, Artie is a Bass Instructor and ensemble coach at York University and Centennial College.
