ABOUT

We are looking for an accordion player who can play Irish (& some Scottish/ Cape Breton) dance music, i.e. jigs, reels, and polkas, as well as songs and slow airs. Either a button accordion player or a piano accordion player is fine. The central concern is to find someone who is comfortable playing more-or-less the full range of music that we play.

Influences

A wide range of influences from Irish and Scottish traditional bands as well as East Coast Cdn and some American traditional folk as well. I have done a lot of work orgnazing ceili dances and would like to get back to that while perhaps broadening the dance forms somewhat, and probably some of the musical offerings as well. So more couples dancing and slow songs from beyond the Celtic repertoire but in something of the same spirit, i.e. folk music, traditional and beyond.

Members Of Band

We are 5 at the moment: 2 violins, 1 banjo, 1 whistle player, 1 guitar. I hope to add an accordion and perhaps a bodhran player who might branch out into a fuller percussion player as events unfold. We shall see.
