ABOUT
I'm a solo acoustic singer/songwriter with a fairly eclectic musical background. Although, in recent years, I've gravitated towards solo acoustic music, the influences that led me to my current tastes are fairly diverse. The musicians that catch my ear are the ones who can create and perform inventive and intricate instrumental lines. As a musician, I aspire to the same ideal. I think of myself as a guitarist first and a vocalist / lyricist second.

Influences
As I said before, my influences are pretty diverse. They include The Dave Matthews Band, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Billy Joel, Elton John. I don't even attempt to imitate these artists but I certainly learn a great deal from their styles and I incorporate, into my own style, the elements that I feel I can use and make my own.

Oppressive
Oppressive Album: "The Solo Sessions" EP Genre: Acoustic
This song isn't about any one specific thing. I'd like to think that the listener can take from it what he or she wants to. Generally, it's about screwing things up. In my mind, it's the apology you're never going to get from the government, your boss, or anyone who tends to act carelessly. By the way, for anyone interested in instrumental technique this is the only composition of my own in which I managed to incorporate a triplet sixteenth run without taking away from the musicality of the piece - at least I hope I was successful.

Effectively Friday
Effectively Friday Album: "The Solo Sessions" EP Genre: Acoustic
This is a song I wrote when I was feeling kind of silly. The riff is an uptempo kind of thing and I have to admit that I was certainly thinking of Dave Matthews when I wrote it. As for the lyrics, it's a song inspired by the mental tricks I play on myself to help the weekend arrive faster.

No Act of Faith
No Act of Faith Album: "The Solo Sessions" EP Genre: Acoustic
This song is as close as I get to a love song. Usually, I avoid the genre because it's hard for me to write, tastefully, about love but I thought I'd give it a go. When I wrote these lyrics, I was picturing a wedding ceremony and what it might look like to the person officiating. I imagined a person who's seen a lot of couples walk down the aisle. This song is basically about my belief that marriage is something that should happen without any misgivings and that when two people have worked through their insecurities, they're ready.

Unkind
Unkind Album: "The Solo Sessions" EP Genre: Acoustic
This is a song inspired by my time in the classroom. It's about a kid that I knew in my first year of teaching, when I was totally inexperienced, who had been through a lot of ugly things growing up. What astounded me about this person is just how effectively this person managed to cope with the world. A lot of people aren't as strong as this kid.

There's not a lot to say here - I did this acoustic cover because this song is a lot of fun!

Nothing Else Matters - Metallica Cover
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica Cover Genre: Cover/Tribute
This song was a challenge. My goal was to be able to perform the entire song on an acoustic guitar without any backup. Arranging the solo for the acoustic was quite tricky but it worked out quite well (I hope).

Love this song! It seems to resonate with a lot of people. Had to bring the key down - Thom Yorke has a spectacular vocal range.
