There is a certain sound that runs through the blood of every person. For some it's classical, others hip-hop and R&B, for others it may be jazz or hardcore or pop, for Matthew Ellis the music running through his veins has always been folk. Though Matt does listen to a great variety of music including jazz and hardcore, the staple sounds that keeps him going is the Indie Folk sound such as that of Bon Iver, Damien Rice, and City and Colour.
Currently Matt lives in Calgary, Alberta and plays occasional shows throughout the city, but is often to busy with school to really focus on his music, however this hasn't stopped him from recording and releasing a free ep called "Ashes" under the persona of Coastlines.
Although Matt currently lives in Calgary he plans to move to Vancouver B.C. in september of 2010 to focus on his music as well as find some other people to join the band.
