ABOUT

Jazz-Tonic is a Toronto based trio formed in 2012 by three musicians who bring their European, North and South American backgrounds, and their love of traditional and contemporary Jazz together to create a unique performing style.
The piano parts are often complex, sometimes revealing a fusion of classical and Jazz techniques. The upright bass plays creative walking lines, exciting Latin beats and melodic solos. The drums play tight swinging Jazz or aggressive Latin.
Its repertoire includes compositions from such Jazz giants as Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck, George Gershwin, Bill Evans and Antonio Carlos Jobim, sparkling Tangos Nuevo by Astor Piazzolla, the classical European melodies of Michel Legrand, Nino Rota and Francis Lai, and music from movies and Broadway shows.
For a more European ambiance, accordion replaces the piano in some pieces, creating the amiable atmosphere of Parisian squares and boulevards.
The trio performs in the lounges, clubs, receptions, weddings and various other functions. Every other month it presents a Jazz Vespers Concert at Toronto’s St. Luke’s United Church.
They perform as a trio, a trio plus singer, or a trio plus a solo instrument such as a sax, guitar or violin.
