(Updated Oct 22, 2024) Looking to start up a(nother) project/ band, with a focus on creating tender, spacey, strange and heart wrenching melodies (mainly acoustic, or with subtle/ understated electronic components). Would love to find some folks who can get together on a weekly basis (at least) to create and practice. Playing shows and recording together could be pretty fun, too! I have access to a rehearsal space in the mid-SE of Calgary, but it's a bit chilly in the winter so I'm open to other rehearsal spaces.
Ideally, I'd mainly be playing my baritone ukulele and singing (though can play other instruments as well), and am looking for additional members to play such instruments as cello, drums/ percussion, guitar, bass (upright or other), keys/synth, harp, horns, and other vocalists for harmonies.
If you're a vocalist with song/ lyric ideas of your own, I'd potentially be cool with taking a more supportive role for your tunes with backup vocals, or uke/ keys/ guitar, or maybe we could just write some pretty stuff together.
I have the bones of several completed songs with fairly clear ideas of how to flesh them out with other musicians, and many half-written ones. Two of the demos on this profile are songs I would love to flesh out with a band.
I can't read music, but I have a good ear (two, in fact), and have been able to slap together rough recordings with Logic Pro to capture ideas well enough to present them to other musicians.
I also play in a local indie/alt band that is on the verge of releasing our second album, have a fair amount of experience playing shows, and have been on tour across Canada once (and would be open to touring again someday).
