Greg Shier is a progressive-metal artist from Kingston, Ontario. In the midst of releasing his debut album, Greg Shier has been on hiatus for several months, last seen opening a night with Priestess.

Few artistsâ?? repertoire covers as broad a spectrum as Gregâ??s. This, coupled with his stage show, is what attracts most of his following.

After picking up the guitar at age 10, Gregâ??s attention landed on 70â??s hard rock giants Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Shortly thereafter, his focus began to shift towards more progressive music and advanced music theory. Bands like Yes, Rush, Dream Theater and Steve Vai moved to the forefront of his attention. At this time, Greg began studying under the direction of Scott Burns (GIT Graduate) and taking courses at Queenâ??s University in theory, world musicâ??s and music history. It is with this background that Greg has molded his unique style.

Greg Shier constantly raises the bar for live performance, as one of the few bands on the indie circuit to be running a timed video and lighting show. With the debut album out now and live performance dates on the way, Greg Shier is an act that simply should not be missed.
