High School Sweetheart is the brainchild of local seasoned singers/songwriters/sisters Anne Moniz and Jessica Vanden Boomen. Highly emotive and vocally-driven, there isn't a song that doesn't at one point or another make you feel like you're right back at that fecund point of youth and passion struggling to befriend wisdom and reason. Life is a work in progress and such is the reality of HSS.
A campy folk-inspired duo at its onset, HSS has evolved into something bigger and unimaginably genuine; it became time to put away childish things when the group started really generating outside interest (which incredibly did not take long). HSS continues making headlines with a recent London Music Award win for roots/folk artist of the year.
Members are well-versed art school vets with a DIY attitude that has only just scraped the surface of the proverbial margarine container of possibility- and they're ready to go big or go home.
Look for their studio EP "There I Was", recorded at EMAC Studios in London, Ontario and check them out on Facebook or Reverbnation for more details.
