ABOUT

I've been in the music industry for over 20 years as a professional musician, songwriter, and music director/producer. Here I'm offering services as a Music Director / Producer for bands at all stages. I want to bring my experience and expertise to get your band to the next level as a full time MD or for a series of rehearsals/gigs to help give a fresh perspective and set you on a path to succeed.

I currently play bass and MD for CMAGIC5 (Pop/Punk act with millions of Spotify streams, using IEMs and ableton tracks rig on this summer's tour) and play/record professionally as a vocalist, lead/rhythm guitarist, and drummer as well*. Have been doing all of this for 25 years.

WHO CAN USE ME:
PROFESSIONAL BANDS - I can come make your band as tight as they can possibly be, joining rehearsals and/or reviewing live footage/audio, giving musical and performance feedback, writing extensive and detailed charts for all instruments. I can also help elevate your show to the modern standard, helping you get your (Ableton or otherwise) live playback rig setup (ie; tracks rig), helping design your in-ear monitor/wireless rigs on a variety of budgets.

ORIGINAL ARTISTS - Help workshop songs, build out arrangements, add instrumentation, hire musicians, design albums and EPs, create studio demos, build a live show. Help you find your path to the next stage of your career/live show.

GARAGE BANDS - Help give objective feedback, teach how to get the most out of rehearsals, or how to break into the next level of playing. Or even, how to actually ENJOY being in a garage band who isn't concerned about "getting big", but just getting the most out of the hang and musical experience. You can think of me as a musical life coach!

COVER BANDS - How to book gigs, how to be the kind of band that gets loads of offers to play weddings and corporate events, clean up and focus your show and setlist (you DO NOT need to play songs you don't like/are sick of). I also rearrange songs into different styles/vibes (example in audio player).

If you're finding me here and don't have a premier account feel free to reach me at [j everett walsh @ gmail . com] (no spaces)

*you can also hire me as a musician or for session work/remote recording, that's just not the purpose of this profile. You can find more on that looking for "prometheus yam" here and elsewhere.

Influences

Why am I different than someone in the band just running the rehearsals?
A lot of great band leaders are also naturally great music directors, so you may already have someone in the band that helps steer the ship, and that's great! There are a few things I can offer that is VERY rarely offered from that position.
-An objective ear: I may have certain musical tastes, but I'm an expert in showing up in the room and knowing what would make a band translate better to an audience regardless of genre, instrumentation, or band dynamics.
-I'm a professional musician on drums, bass, guitar, and voice. Having someone in the room who can translate with clarity to each member of the band can save a LOT of time in rehearsals. This is hard to overvalue.
-I've been recording and working in live sound for 25 years. I understand the equipment, from instruments, to PAs, to wireless gear, to the production software that often runs alongside modern shows. I can help you navigate the gear you need to get the show you want.
-Sometimes it just takes fresh ears. I've worked with bands where I was only in the room once or twice, gave a list of feedback, and that gave the band a lot to work towards. The next time I saw them live it was a completely different show.

EQUIPMENT

Left ear
Right ear
Mouth through which to transmit feedback
Hands through which to enact schemes

I work primarily in Pro Tools and Ableton and have "great gear", but that's not super relevant for this. More importantly I understand great gear :)
