ABOUT
I am interested in finding players who appreciate and are interested in what I would classify as "roots rock 'n roll". Sadly I am beginning to think that it's a dying art. My favorite band was NRBQ because they embodied the style I am referring to. I loved the "attitude" that was present in the 50's and early 60's and would like to add a contemporary flair to it. The drummer Steve Jordan (from the movie "Hail, Hail Rock 'n Roll") summed it up aptly when he said it simultaneously combines the elements of swing and straight-time, creating a tension between the two. If you are familiar with NRBQ and are a fan of the way the late, great Tommy Ardolino played the drums (in tandem with bassist Joey Spampinato) then you know exactly what I'm talking about. So if this remotely resonates with any musicians out there, I would like to meet you and jam with you. I can play drums, guitar and/or keys but am most comfortable with the first two.
