Background:

I was active in the music scene many years ago when, like many of us (I assume), life presented a new path that put the pause on the musical side of things. After many years, an opportunity presented itself to me last summer and I went way outside my comfort zone in putting myself out there, seeing if I could restart my music career.

Well, it worked, sort of. I made the band. The experience ended up being extremely disappointing, however, I now own some new gear ? and my passion for music and singing has been rekindled. I have decided to continue with it which brings me to today.

What you really want to know:

I have modest goals for now:
- To build a cover/event band that will play one, maybe two, gigs per month.
- My main go-to genre is country, however, focusing on a variety of styles lends itself to more gigging opportunities.
- We are aiming to have a house party/performance in March or April
- We are volunteering to perform at a non-profit event in May.
- We are in negotiations to play a paid gig at the Convention Centre later in the year. Committing to this requires a full band… knowing how many of us there are and what gear we will be using, etc.

We are early in the process, and will grow gradually. I want to do this right, with the right people. It’s important that you realize we are not going to provide a regular pay cheque for you. We have regular day jobs so we are not looking to gig every weekend. It would be fantastic to add instrumentalists who are at similar life stages, who are not necessarily playing music as a full time career. Being close to our “vintage”, although not necessary, would be cool. I would love to add a female voice to the mix if you’re out there and can play guitar or bass.

So far, I have an incredible piano/keyboard player on board. We have been practicing together once a week plus whatever practice we do on our own to be ready with new tunes, etc. We have been putting some tunes together for the last two months or so, learning lyrics and parts, establishing keys/charts, and then running through them to see which are keepers and which are dogs.

We are meeting with a guitar player/vocalist in the next few days. Next up will be to add a lead guitarist and a bass guitarist. Drums will follow a little later. We still need a band name.

Priorities:

- The experience of the audience is paramount.
- Respect and a strong professional reputation – we will do our best, be reliable, be on time, be prepared, and stay sober during performances.
- A supportive team vibe – this needs to be fun or there is no point.
