ABOUT

I am an active musician carrying lots of experience as a bassist in a vast variety of endeavours. My musical experience consisted of a couple years of piano lessons during childhood. At age 13, I began taking lessons on bass guitar and added the double bass a couple of years later, all while my love and appreciation for heavy metal, jazz and classical music grew stronger and stronger. I received my musical education and training in the music department of my middle and high school, classical music at Douglas College in New Westminster, jazz at Capilano College (now a university) in North Vancouver and music with European folk and gypsy roots in Romania. All of these years lead me to study bass privately with various professionals like Rob Marr, Jodi Proznik, Rob Copeman-Haynes and Marian Jantea. Having been professionally gigging since my first year of college, my musical experience has got me involved in music videos, public television performance, conventions, private functions, festivals, casual restaurants, various recording sessions (e.g. solo artists, original projects, soundtracks), tours to Toronto, New York, United States and Romania. Some of the artists I have been involved are Lache Cercel's Roma-Swing ensemble, Simon Collins (the son Phil Collins), Sinned (metal), Avencho (jazz/r&b), Serwan Yamolky (oud virtuoso) and Cassandra Bangel. In addition to recording and performance, I also share my knowledge of bass by giving private lessons.

My main purpose of joining Bandmix is to make new connections and find work as a session bassist. I am a mature, reliable and honest professional who can play bass lines of all genres of music and learn your music quickly by ear or reading music notation. My rates vary but are reasonable and depend on the situation.

Every once in a while, I may choose to collaborate with others for casual jams or for projects that focus on original works or background music for parties and peaceful lounge settings. Often, I am occupied in these areas.
