ABOUT

I'm a passionate and experienced drummer/teacher/dad who has been playing in bands - both cover and original- since the age of 16 (and on pots and pans long before that). I am currently looking to join an already existing cover/event/party band where the music interests me, the drumming is challenging, and there is clear musical chemistry and respect among members. I am not in this for the money, but I am looking to rehearse one night a week until we get tight, and then gig about 1-2 times month, once we get established - quality gigs, perhaps using a booking agent.

If you audition me you'll see immediately that I'm talented, creative, dedicated and a very quick-learner (I have a history of jumping in to replace previous drummers, and learning quick!). I'm also very easy going and I've also got a great sense of humour, for what it's worth (at least I think so)! I have yet to work with a band that hasn't been sad to see me go, and I am routinely contacted by past band members looking to reconnect for brand new projects!

I would describe myself as an alt-rock drummer with a melodic pop sensibility (see my R.E.M. tribute project), and I'm really only interested in playing rock, pop and crowd-pleasing top 40. As far as originals, song writing is key - if the songs are great, and my drumming can elevate them to the next level, that's the most important thing to me - no need to showboat. I'm loose, laid-back and creative when I need to be, and aggressive, tight and right on point when it's called for. Some of my main drumming influences include Chad Smith, John Bonham, Dave Grohl, Matt Cameron, Travis Barker and Jimmy Chamberlain.

I listen to music obsessively - alternative and indie rock mostly, but top 40 as well - so it's very unlikely you'll throw something at me that I'm not already familiar with.

I've played Sneaky Dees, The Horseshoe Tavern, The Hard Rock Casino in Ottawa, and everything in between, and I know how to light up a room and get people on the dance floor!
