I started playing drums in 1977. I've been hooked ever since!!! I played drums and percussion all through school and excelled at it! I started singing half way through school and have enjoyed that aspect of music and still do to this day. I've had some formal instruction with fantastic teachers and have benefitted from every one! Each one has made me a much better all around musician. In 1994 thru 1996 I attended the Selkirk college of music in Nelson B.C. In that program they teach jazz. I fell heavily in love with jazz and big band and swing. The technics involved with those types of music have kept me humbled and practicing everyday! I would love to play in a small jazz group one day. After completing the jazz program I got involved with teaching drums and some music theory back in my home town. (Vernon B.C.) I did that for almost 10 years and LOVED it !!! There's nothing quite like showing something to a student on the drum set and seeing and hearing that they 'get it'. I would love to get back into that someday. In that time I spent several years recoding drum tracks for various projects and I fell in love with the recording process. I hope to one day record my own album. In 2011 I had lower back surgery and have been going through a slow but steadily upward progression to getting back to a level that I feel confident enough to throw myself into music full time. I feel that day coming soon. Along the way I hope to meet some other musicians and start making some good music again!!

Influences
My first influence-Buddy Rich!! We will never have another Buddy!! - My biggest influence would have to be Stewart Copeland. My fav. band -The Police!! His Hi-hat grooves still stun me!! I've attended two master classes. The first one was Terry Bozzio. Incredible drummer/musician and a nice guy!!! Love his drumming. The second was Peter Erskine. I can see why he has been one of the most influential jazz drummers of all time!! His jazz chops are beyond description (for me anyway). I will be forever greatful for the chance to have met Peter and I know personally that I will be practicing some of his methods for the rest of my life! The guy played with Jaco!! What more could a drummer ask for! I would have to say Jeff Pocaro is a huge influence! Nobody will ever shuffle like Jeff did. Steve Gadd-Alan White-Omar Hakim-Carter Beauford-I could go on and on but that should give you an idea.
EQUIPMENT
I have a 7 piece Pear all maple drum set that I bought in 1981. It's old but sounds amazing! I have a variety of cymbals(over 17) from Ziljian to Sabian to Paiste. Lots of splash cymbals. I have mikes for the whole kit and a vehicle to carry it all.
