ABOUT
it is said that there are three genetic characteristics that artists are born with: instinct, passion and determination. mineseye was borne of those qualities in august 2004.
matt duncan (guitars + bass + vox), and rob brusso (drums + vox), were recording sessions at a brampton studio with their previous band, when matt struck up a conversation with agnes gromadzka, a vocalist and lyricist recording solo tracks in the studio next to theirs.
with agnes unsatisfied with her solo progress, and matt hearing someone with far more potential than she was given the ability to work with, the two began collaborating and before they had realized what had happened, a new songwriting partnership was born. excited by each others energy, agnes joined with matt and rob, and it was immediately obvious that there was an undeniable chemistry between all of them.
so began an intense writing and playing period, building their repertoire and chasing the music that they felt resonating inside of them. soon after having written their signature song "mind's eye", the band drew new inspiration from the song's up-beat adrenalized feel and so came forth a new identity. the doors had opened to the unprecedented sound of mineseye.
2005 saw a great deal of writing, playing and performing in front of excited audiences. With the addition of new bassist michael oberhammer in october, mineseye have entered the next stage in their evolution.
that evolution involves a collection of songs that showcase the best in its creators' abilities. mineseye’s music runs the range from crushingly heavy (‘sliced’) to darkly groovy (‘change for me (stay the same)’) to achingly heartfelt (‘back words’) to deliriously hard (‘soldier’). it is powerful music that finds its brand of alternative rock in the synthesis of all that it’s members have to contribute. heavy, vulnerable, bombastic, delicate and powerful are just a few of the words that can be used to describe what one can expect from mineseye.
with their passion, their instinct, and their determination held out before them, like a battering ram, like a shield, like a lance, one need only spend a short time listening to them to know that this is the time for mineseye.
