ABOUT

Hi I'm Clay K. I started thinking about this project about 2009. Wanted to set up a band free from constrictions restraints, egos or over Computer processing. just fun and more fun. Run it as an absolute democracy one person 1 vote, equal pay. Learn and play hit covers to get tight and get gigs. Then take our time writing to produce a product we are satisfied with. Introducing the originals to audiences to get their take on them

The band (R.A.W.) formed in April 2012. The first step was Clay Koslowski (Drums) discussing the idea with Nathan Buller- Kormos (Lead Guitar), who joined immediately. Then a week later, the two approached Clayton Janzen (Bass Guitar) with the idea. He was eager to join. They named the band “Rock and Wobble”. They began the odyssey of finding a vocalist able and willing to cover the range necessary for the band. After months of auditions they found KD Dale, a country vocalist, to cover a local 2013 Ukrainian New Years celebration the band had booked. Although the band was re-booked on the spot, for 2014, it would be a one show deal with KD, as her musical interests were far removed. Clay K had been bringing his young daughter to practices to sing from lyric sheets for vocal cues. She quickly improved to the point that she was blowing away the auditions. Jessie Kay took the position as lead vocalist in June 2013. As she had no live vocal experience, the band quickly booked three volunteer single set, 16 song, gigs in Fair Day beer gardens at both Debden SK and Rosthern SK, and a car show in Bruno SK. The band then began to prepare four, 8 song, sets required for the 2014 Ukrainian New Years celebration.
Following that event, they began to look for bars who would hire bands. As Saskatchewan isn’t exactly considered a hot spot for live paying venues, it took awhile to get the ball rolling. After a lot of miles and PR, the band played its first bar show on April 4th, 2014 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
Shorty after this they realized that the band name did not suit the music being played (sounding more like a child's toy rather than a rock band), the band name reverted to the acronym (R.A.W.) alone for a short while. The band was renamed “Rough and Wretched” while keeping the acronym on the banner.

Rough and Wretched have played and are playing numerous venues, including volunteering. They were selected as an overnight televised house band on Telemiracle39, March 7th and 8th 2015. Rough and Wretched also volunteered a full show and equipment for Full Throttle's Motorcycle rally fundraiser “Full Throttle for Fort McMurray” May 16, 2016.

Rough and Wretched have opted to stay out of studio until a satisfactory amount of material has been written for a full album. They are looking at studio recording in late 2016 or early 2017. Meanwhile, they are writing, but investing their resources in live shows for the many audiences for whom they perform. They do, however, video every show to enable themselves to watch, critique, and make any necessary changes. Some of this video can be viewed on this and our other pages. While the videos are not high quality, they do give an idea as to the variety and show Rough and Wretched performs and the equipment such as lighting and sound they have and use.
