    i knew this little girl
    head full of curls
    she didn’t have a chance
    when she was born into this world
    i remember her smile
    it spread for miles
    we sat on the steps
    and fed the birds for a while

    the neighbours didn’t know
    the damage didn’t show
    the only ones who knew
    were the dollies that she told
    she was strangled with her hair
    her parents didn’t care
    when i visited her grave
    there was nothing everywhere

    how can these things be?
    what’s it mean to me?
    some enormous hand
    i don’t understand
