It began in 1996 when Shayne Lawrence decided to start a band with a couple of friends, Adam Hates You. He had previously been writing music and wanted to give it a live feel instead of just a computer. The band lasted two and a half years. In November of 1998, Shayne went on a trip to Calgary, Alberta. There for only one week, he decided it was time for a change. He left the band and quit his job.
In 1999 Twitch started in Calgary with a limited cassette tape release appropriately named Twitch. From 2002 to 2015 Shayne’s one man show released five albums respectively; We are Here to Dance!, TCP/IP, Welcome, ant, ant: The Path Home, and a 4 part EP series called: This D1sk.
In 2009, Twitch was featured on a compilation from Silver Echo Records called “Silver Echo Records Vol. 2” contributing the exclusive track “Black Day”!
In 2014, Shayne contributed a track off of, what would become, the “This D1sk” EPs to a short experimental film called “Sub-Ordinate” written and directed by Katja Moeller!
In 2015, Twitch was featured on a compilation from Out There Music Promotion called “DIGITALBERTA” contributing the track “Unknown” (originally off the ‘ant’ album)! Also, two instrumental versions of tracks off of the “ant” album were featured in another short film called “Rubicon” written and directed by Sue Kenyon!
The solo project, as featured in the Canadian dark alternative magazine: Dark Parlour Magazine, lyrics and songs take a positive path, and the message being that: We can change the world! And, we can have fun while we are doing it!! Twitch is an industrial/metal/hiphop solo project.
