ABOUT

KING OZ IS LOOKING FOR A KEYBOARD PLAYER & RHYTHM GUITAR!!!!!!

King Oz is a Canadian Experimental/Progressive/Psychedelic/Rock band that formed in January of 2010 in Calgary, Alberta. Jeff Deck and Mike Whitley had already begun writing songs together just before they contacted Dean Ropchan through an internet ad. They agreed to meet at the Soundloft, a local time slot rehearsal studio. The first jam session was unique as hands were shaken with very few words exchanged. Nobody discussed objectives. Nobody mentioned influences. They simply plugged in and turned on. After three hours of shaking walls apart in the simple sweatshop style space there was silence... and then immediate connection. Things just seemed to fit. the three shook hands once again and proposed another session, but this time they would incorporate Dylan MacLeod to fill in for percussion. Numerous sessions were held before moving the band into a personal practice spot in Calgary's downtown core. In late February, Dylan decided to pursue a Cross Canada bicycle trip and dismembered from the group. The team kept at it, auditioning drummers left and right. Shortly they stumbled upon Luke Pelotte, an easterner that just finished a year's stint with Mr.Chill and the witnesses, Kelly Hope's furtherance after Big Sugar. The band moved once again staying central to Calgary. In late April Luke was fired from the band. Auditions ran until September. The boys continued to write material until they stumbled upon Steve Lemmer. Complications, Frustrations, & Impurities forced the band to restructure in early 2011, leading to Jeff Deck's departure. The remaining 3 members took a 2 month break to explore their talents. Now reunited, the 3 continue to write material.
