ABOUT

Mike hails from Toronto and has been playing music over 40 years, starting with classical piano training through the Royal Conservatory with some adventures in trombone, saxophone and guitar playing in high school. Appreciating the theory and rigor of the basics, he still needed to go beyond this and began expressing himself through writing his own music and playing rock, jazz, blues and MIDI/synth programming, participating in theatrical numbers such as "Phantom of the Opera" and "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat". His true love and passion though is progressive rock, with influences including ELP, Yes, Genesis, Saga, Alan Parson's Project, Spock's Beard, Dream Theatre, Tangerine Dream, Flower Kings, VdGG, Porcupine Tree, Rush. Mike plays in a number of Ottawa-based original, cover and tribute projects including an original progressive rock project, Emergence, the Saga tribute act, Humble Stance, and Double Vision, a Foreigner tribute act.
